- Meaning and history 1959 Back in 1956, the team used a logo where the large red letter “U” was superimposed on the “N.” The interlocking glyphs formed a single shape, which was rather intricate and, to be honest, was not perfectly legible, intelligible, and memorable.
- It was not that easy to figure out which university the emblem belonged to as the two letters were not exactly enough, and there were also no images to make an instant connection with the university.
- This time, the design team decided to leave only the letter “N.” The basic shape of the letter was the same as on the previous logo, but this time the glyphs had white and red trim, while the previous logo featured the solid “N.” We should also point out the slight difference between the shade of red used on the previous Nebraska Cornhuskers logo and the current one.
